The conscious use of sound is one of an energy healer’s most powerful tools. Shamanic sound healing is a potent form of energy medicine that can effectively transform our mind-body states, bringing new awareness and real healing attunement. The most powerful sound healing instrument we have is our own voice. It carries the vibrational essence of one’s embodied truth, directly channels our emotional bodies, and can be a dynamic catalyst of personal evolution.
This workshop is designed as a revitalizing, transformational retreat infused with spirit and presence. We experience master practitioner Rich Goodhart’s richly multidimensional sound medicine immersions in complementary flow with the deeply awakening, participatory vocal alchemy of Chloe Goodchild. We witness sound’s ability to inspire healing responses, expansion, and renewal. Goodhart and Goodchild bring lifetimes of sound, voice, and healing experience, along with Goodhart’s special collection of exotic world instruments. This workshop is open to all and is especially ideal for sound therapy practitioners.
Chloe Goodchild is an international singer, pioneering voice teacher, and founder of the Naked Voice, an organization which, according to its website, is “dedicated to the realization of compassionate communication in all realms of human life.” Her life’s work is inspired by her experience with deafness as a child, which brought her close with her inner self.
Goodchild is passionate about exploring and sharing the power and sound of the human voice for personal and global transformation. She founded the Naked Voice in 1990 and has co-created a worldwide community of Voice and Sound practitioners and facilitators, dedicated to the healing art of sound and voice in everyday life.
Goodchild studied music, English, and education and graduated as a music and English teacher. Influenced by travels throughout Africa, India, Turkey, Europe, Canada, and the United States, she developed her own evolutionary East-West vocal research before experiencing a “no-mind” experience in northern India. After this, she created her unique Naked Voice method of sound and voice.
Goodchild has sung at the Way of Peace conference in Northern Ireland, and for the Dalai Lama at the Good Heart conference in London, England. She was the music director and composer of The Vagina Monologues with acclaimed playwright Eve Ensler at Madison Square Garden in New York City. She has released a number of solo and compilation albums, including the Grammy-nominated Sura and her latest album of collected works called Thousand Ways of Light.
Rich Goodhart is an internationally recognized and respected world music multi-instrumentalist, composer, recording artist, gifted Master Shamanic Sound Healing practitioner, and core instructor on the Omega Institute faculty. He is a Qigong and Tai Chi instructor, authored two books, and has composed, produced, arranged, and engineered seven albums of progressive world music.
Goodhart has performed and collaborated with many highly regarded musicians, dancers, and writers, including Allen Ginsberg, Deepak Chopra, Jon Anderson of YES, Daevid Allen of GONG, Collin Walcott, Krishna Das, Joanne Shenandoah, Nawang Khechog, Steve Gorn, Omar Faruk Tekbilek, Paul Horn, John Bergamo, Mark Nauseef, Athena Burke, Gilli Smyth, Michael Harrison, Bill T. Jones, Russill Paul, John Perkins, Zola Dubnikova, Lanny Harrison-Walcott, Amy Fradon, John Ragusa, Shahram Shiva, and David Newman.
Goodhart’s newest album of shamanic sound medicine meditations is titled Forest River Pathway. Past albums include the Shaman Mirror Medicine Tree and Never Give a Sword to a Man Who Can’t Dance. Originally a keyboardist, he has studied with master musicians of Africa, India, the United States, and Indonesia. His second book of luminous invocations and sound healing essays is titled The Sound Inside the Sound.
