Helen Chadwick to come to Hawkwood College

Hawkwood College has invited Helen Chadwick to run a workshop and perform in February 2012. She is offering a songwriting course Friday 17-Sunday 19 February 2012, which includes an evening concert “Sung Stories” on Saturday 18th February.  During the weekend, participants will work on their own, in pairs and small groups to build up melodic phrases and words, bringing in harmonies to create new, original songs.  Their creative efforts will be supported by a friendly, welcoming atmosphere, beautiful surroundings and lots of delicious food.   Helen has been dubbed “wickedly inventive” in her composing and performing.  Based in London but widely travelled, she is a performance creator, singer and composer whose work has been commissioned by the Royal Opera House, London. She has written over 250 songs and has recorded 10 albums, the latest of which is Strange Land with the Helen Chadwick Group.  She has also composed for

English Touring Opera, the BBC, Tete a Tete Opera Company, Salisbury Cathedral, Greenwich Festival and for many theatre companies including the National and the Royal Shakespeare Company.

Helen often works with Sian Croose and Ali Burns, and is the founder of Sing for Water. www.helenchadwick.com
